Kirk pot, easegill ( not a YSS trip )
After a request for information on pegleg pot ( one of my favourites ) on UK caving I was invited to join john cordingley on a trip into kirks pot to try and join the sumps between the two caves
After the hike across the fell with the diving gear we soon arrived at the entrance it was a nice steady trip to the sump with some nice bits of caving on the way from the flat out entrance crawl over boulders then down through a slot in the floor and down a couple of pitches then it opens up into a wonderful passage before the crawl to the sump

Once John had disappeared into the sump we all went for a wonder to explore other parts of the cave before returning to the sump to wait for his return were we sat amusing ourselves on how quick we could get out if we noticed water starting to flow down the passage, the general senses was that we wouldn’t and we would be doomed as this place has flood debris in every part of the cave from the entrance to the sump ( not the best subject to talk about when sat at a sump )

Two hours after he entered the sump John returned and was soon dekitted and then it was I nice steady exit out into the sunshine

No connection may to pegleg yet but almost there probably the other side of the boulders in the pegleg sump, plus other stuff that im Sworn To Secrecy about for now ;)

Trip time 4.5 hrs
Paul Geddes, John Cordingley, Ray Duffy & Adrian?

I went down, kirk Pot with JNC Wednesday 21st March along with Richard Mercer - We removed a few tree trunks and moved a few boulders to open up the entrance crawl and helped carry some of the gear. siphoned out a high level sump that JNC had pointed out, a bit of capping led to more new passage that continued forward still a touch tight. John on the day extended the sump 50m

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
