In spite of all the rubbish on telly about the worst April snows in Yorkshire since Adam ( do they know how BIG Yorkshire is? ) ,It was all rather dissapointing,to find snow only on the tops of Ingleborough, even the petrol station at Ingleton had petrol & Diesel at 8.30am this morning. So I filled up and set off for Sedbergh & beyond - No snow on the roads & very little on Leck & Casterton Fells. It was not until reaching Uldale that I hit snow on the road.
Meeting up with Richard Mercer we went to the end of Scaredy Cow and cleared all the debris from the end, then we tested the draft using joss sticks, the smoke disapearing into the choke at the end! so digging this cave will continue. We then brought out about 15 trays of debris through the crawls and tipped them at the end of the entrance shaft.
Next we returned to Black Moss Pot,in spite of this being a 3 man dig,we managed to remove 30 trays of spoil along with a old shovel left by previous diggers before we had had enough.Could we now be deeper than any other digging team?
