After a nice cup of tea in Inglesport, Me, Ales, Collum and Keith all set off for Meregill. When we arrived to park at the main road we were greeted with loads of cars as there were lots of walkers going up Ingleborough, at one point we thought we would have to change our plans but luckily we managed to squeeze onto the grass verge, get our gear on and set off.
We arrived at the cave around 10.30am, as the main entrance had a lot of water in it so we decided to go through the Aven, the tight alternative. Keith went in first after dusting the entrance of spiderwebs ha! I then followed him down the tight passage, which was fine for your body but not much else, probably a size 8-10 ha

, anyway because of this I had to take my tiny tackle bag off as it was stopping me getting through. Then Collum and Ales Followed. Through the crawl you arrive head first over a pitch so you have to climb out in a tight space without falling so you can turn your legs around and sit up to put your descender on, then its an abseil down the first pitch weeeee!
We then did about 4 other pitches with many traverses, rebelays and a couple of deviations, my legs went like jelly at some points as it was very high and swingy but I did it and got a sense of achievement afterwards. Two of the pitches threw you into waterfalls which were wild and took your breath away especially when it went down the back of your neck brrrr.
On the last pitch there was then a large pool of water, Keith and the others managed to stay dry by climbing around the edges... I took the other route by slipping and doing the splits and landing up to my head in water, I did manage to swim in one as it was quite deep. All but Ales then proceeded down the winding passages that were rushing with water to the last pool which we could have gone through but may have struggled to get back up as the water was quite powerful on the climb back. This pool was like a big bubbling chip pan, although it would have been very cold it looked quite inviting to jump in.
We then made our way back out getting drenched by waterfalls, the sounds coming out of Ales were hilarious!

and I had a few struggles on the rebelays. We then reached the final squeeze out where me and Ales had a bit of trouble with a tackle bag that was jammed in the tight crawl out, after a bit of puffing, panting and pushing (from me) we managed to get it out and we all saw daylight at about 6.15pm.
Absolutely brilliant day, thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone who likes a sporty trip with a bit of everything included! Thank you Collum, Keith and Ales
