The boy Brian felt the need for a trip down Tatty wife as he had not 'kissed the dive line' at the sump before, i had read some interesting stats, it is a mile long (that would include FDS and North branch inlet) and 510 feet deep, which stoked the fires of deviation revenge. So we packed two tackle sacks and set off on the long walk, excellent nav skills by the boy Brian got us there without a hitch, one always seems to be knackered when one arrives at the entrance to Tatty wife, Kit on light adjusted and off we went. The boy Brian rigged brilliantly giving me the opportunity to show off my deviation passing skills, i think things went smoothly, i even managed to tackle the swing with relative ease (unlike the attemps made on Paul's film footage :cheer: ). Through a full 'duck' the water baptising the nether regions in true Tatty wife style. Levels of water at the sump were quite high which ensured we had to crawl on hands and knees in the dark cold water for some time. Chased out by another team, i had a few minor problems at the top of the pitch above the ramp (got in a little tangle with the Kendal CC rope, which had twisted around our own). Found the tackle sack a bit of a barstard, with the weight of all the soaked rope in it but at least mine had straps on, unlike the poor Brian's. Back to the car and a drive to Bernies for a chat and cup of tea. Nice one commandant Brian, i really enjoyed the trip.
Time 5 hours or so

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
