Had a very interesting evening trip round this old mine, choice of two ways in, one being the engine shaft at about 70mts in one hang and the other being the climbing shaft which consisted of 3 pitch's to get to the bottom. Several different levels to go at and several shafts in the floor which would be worth a second trip to have a look down them.
Although the place was littered with stacked deads there was some excellent examples of stone stemples supporting them and quite a few artifacts lying about. Also big thanks to Jason and Simon from the Orpheus for showing us around the place.
Trip time 2hrs15
Ruth Smith, Stu Weston, Howard Whittaker, Colum Walsh, Lee Langdon, Keith Mason and Jason and Simon

Many thank's to the Derbyshire contingent for looking after us.
Shame it takes so long to drive down after work, otherwise we would be out to play every Wednesday evening. Home before midnight though.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
