Good turnout for this trip with 8 in total, after an impromptu fashion show at the school involving Neoprene  we set off for White Scar. Once kitted up we started on the difficult entrance section  and pretty soon we arrived at the point where we had to leave the showcave, as we climbed into the streamway we set off in knee deep water but this soon changed as we found ourselves swimming in very cold water :woohoo: .
As we arrived at Big Bertha we started to make our way through the Boulder Choke, what followed them was a stomp down a very impressive streamway with a few obstacles along the way.
After a few stops to look at pretties and check some side passages out we arrived at the start of the last section which involved swimming along in a very impressive section of passageway with low airspace sections in several places. Eventually we arrived at the sump which signalled the end of the trip for us, so at this point we turned tail and headed out. As we swam back through the last lake and climbed back into the showcave we were all nice and clean washed, so we went to the end and had a quick look in Battlefield Cavern before making our way back to the entrance. Was a cracking trip and I think we all enjoyed it!!!

How did Nigel let us miss Moonmilk Inlet? :) Will also have to have a look at Sleepwalker next time.

Sounds good a classic trip glad you guys got to enjoy it.

I always wanted to go back in there and explore the sleep walker series which I missed last time. A slippery hole in the floor stopped our progress last time. I think it dropped all the way back to the steam a long long way below.

P.s. that sump upstream is diveable (its around 2m) its the only sump in Yorkshire I have ever dived through. The chamber beyond is not that special and its only another 20 meters before a much longer sump which I did not fancy diving,

Yes shame we missed Moonmilk, glad we saw Straw chamber though, possibly the longest straws i have seen. Thanks for a great day out folks, wetsuits are essential for that cave.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
