Took my daughter Lucy (11) and two of her friends and their Dads for their first underground trip.
After a double faff of getting them ready followed by us, we headed to Browgill.
Nice stready trip through to Calf Holes, all of them enjoying the climb, crawls and squeezes on the way.
Headed back out the way we came (as you do).

Due to one of them being cold, our numbers reduced for a quick trip into Birkwith - must say the water as you crawled in was like ice. Followed the stream up - quite a bit of water coming through. Then back out for the double faff of getting changed.

Kids loved it, loved the school and enjoyed the Helly.

Hannah Ashworth, Nick Ashworth, George Martin, Nick Martin, Lucy Finch, Andy Mason, James Finch.

Thanks to Andy for helping out, and sorting some "mini" gear, also John B for sorting some kit also

Trip time
Browgill/Calf Holes - 2.5 hrs
Birkwith - 30 mins
Helly - 5.5 hrs

Whilst James and party were down Browgill, I rigged Calf Holes and spent an hour or so with Holy and Jake playing up and down the pitch. Beautiful day but as James said it was not warm.
Sunday was glorious so set off on bikes past Birkwith over tops to Beckermonds and down toward Buckden. about 20 miles covered but the superlight razor sharp saddle on my bike is heading for the bin. Unable to sit comfortably since and convinced that a week in a high security prison would have left certain parts of my anatomy in better condition.
James' crowd seemed to really enjoy the w/e and were fine company. Be good to see them back.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
