Giants round trip 9/3/13
Having done this trip last year with Keith I was keen to have another trip into giants as it was my wife’s first time on the Derbyshire weekend I decided to give Titan a miss and take her into Giant and have a go at navigating from memory of last years trip.

Paul H not having done giants decided to join us for the trip so on a cold Saturday morning 4 of us headed to the entrance. Last time I was in here we went over the top, through the windpipe and up crab walk . After dropping Garland pot we had a look at the rift to see if we could see the way up but couldn’t see the route , so it was a quick change of plan to do the trip the other way round testing my navigation skills to the max. It Was a steady trip down the crabwalk we even rescued a frog from one of the pools which was put in my waterproof container so we could take it back to the surface, at the sump it was time to turn around and try find the route upto the windpipe, this was soon found with only one wrong turn. at the junction to the windpipe we went up and had a quick look at the connection to maskhill & oxlow ( I still have no intention of doing that trip ) one we arrived at the windpipe Paul H went through first then I popped down and started to crawl through the cold water at this point I thought of Michelle going through and it dawned on me she might not like it so I shuffled backwards for a chat with her and to let her have a look to see if she would do it , Pete went through and stayed at the other end and then Michelle set off, with loads of encouragement from Pete she made it through so again I lowered myself back down and followed them through. There seemed to be a lot more water than the last time I did it at this time my head way sideways with my helmet on the roof and my cheek in the water. After anther wrong turn we soon got to the traverse above the crab walk, another bit of doubt at the bit were you duck under the flow stone above the rift and we were soon making our way back down to garland pot . we were soon kitted up and going up when Colum and his party arrived at the top so after a quick chat we headed back out to the cold wind that awaited us, we released the frog and jumped in the car fully kitted up for the trip back to the TSG to get changed
