On a cold and miserable morning two intrepid explorers made the journey from Doncaster to the YSS hut, not knowing quite what to expect !
But four smiling faces a few handshakes and a nice hot brew was a good start to their first caving experience. After a cuppa, a chat and a tour of our top class facilities we kitted up our explorers with some suits and helmets.

Paul had decided that Runscar and Thistle would be an ideal destination considering the atrocious weather conditions , I was pleased as i had not been before either :silly:
Arriving at the parking spot we were supprised at how busy it was.
Off across the field we soon found our first entrance and one by one disappeard into it. That first nip of cold water in the wellies was refreshing to say the least :pinch: ,in and out of both caves we explored vigorously stopping for photos on the way ( about 300 hundered between Paul and I  ) .
In Runscar PJ was the only one brave enough to get a proper soaking through the sumpy bit, I turned back after I got a face full of foam looking like Santa.
After a couple of hour exploring these two great little caves we headed back to the roadside for a descrete change into our dry gear. And of couse we then intoduced our guests to the delights on Inglesport Cafe.

A great afternoon had by all, And we have two potential new members.

Did you consider getting into Scar Top? I think that is one of the best caves I've been to for the number of decorations at the final chamber when so close to a popular novices area.

Nice one guys. Obviously you know how to present the beauty of caving even in such horrible weather!

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
