Only 4 takers this time, after parking up and getting changed we were soon on our way. This time only taking a rope for the entrance as we were able to use the in situ ropes of Tony's this time :) . When we got to the entrance we found that somebody had made holes in the plastic tubing and inserted a piece of scaff bar through and rigged a rope from it....bonus.
As some of us had done the entrance series before it was a lot easier this time with the tips we had picked up from our last trip in there, so it didn't take long to reach the top of the first pitch. This was quickly dropped followed by the second pitch, Mon Petit which drops you into a small chamber. then a short crawl in the streamway leads you into the Galerie pas Mur and a very impressive rift.
After checking the description we headed off in the top of the rift to find the climb back down to stream level, then it was several minutes of easy caving till we made our way back up in the rift for an exciting high level traverse to the top of Puits Ian Plant. After a short descent of about 2mts to a rebelay, we then started to drop the pitch proper and what a very impressive pitch :woohoo:
A short 3mtr rope traverse quickly leads to the last section of the pitch and once this was descended we headed off to make our way to the sump. This involved some more high level traversing before dropping back to stream level to reach the final pitch, at the bottom of this it is a short walk to the sump. All that was left then was to turn tail and head out, thankfully into glorious sunshine
Trip time 4hrs30

Nice report Keith and very cool cave!!! Goes to my favourite list!

And this is what Tony Seddon says about the sump:
''What you see at the bottom of the cave is a *window* into a bigger drainage. Left goes downstream to King (connected in '99), but right goes upstream for 270m into quite a lot of dry passage... This is not surveyed, has a drafting aven, two streamways and three undived sumps!''

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
