We headed for Illusion pot for our sunday trip, they were wanting to go climbing somewhere but the promise of an ice cream van outside the cave and 'heaven on earth' formations swung them.

We set off up the track and couldn't see an ice cream van :( , we headed for the joining track and then started to follow the GPS arrow as we heard a transit van chugging up the track :)

We soon found the pipe and scuttled down the pipe and the fixed ladders, the formations started pretty much straight away and we steadily made our way through the crawls and the Duck which was nicely open and equally as nicely 6 inch deep in gloopy mud!

I arrived at the junction first, What a huge piece of cave that is :cheer: !, we followed it to the left until we were blocked by a boulder choke and a climb down. we could see the pure white formations beyond but I wasnt sure abot getting back up the climb so I took the opportunity to have a quick play with the camera and we started to head out because claire was feeling a bit cold.

Claire decided that we could have a look at to other side of the junction as she might warm up in the big stompy passage so we marched on until the way on was a sandy crawl, There were so many different formations and straw clusters I was dying to get the camera gear back out but I could already hear the headlines

So we made our exit, retraced our steps to the ice cream van and I even had a swim in the river to wash off!

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
