You are the YSS Small Mamall officer now :)

I would be interested to get familiarized with Hensler's part of the system as well, Ian.

I'm keen to do the NFTFH Hensler's Pot trip, Hensler's Pot then through New Henslers to Bar and the main chamber before Henslers Old crawl back to Hensler's High Aven and back out.
Keith recommended it so it must be tip top!

Over the weekend just gone two people told me a trip contender for hardest trip in Not for the Faint Hearted is Marble Sink. One was Mr McCarron and the other Robert Bialek, the field assistant to Mike Cooper when researching the book. Andy also said that no one in the YSS has been up to the challenge that Marble sink poses. Despite understanding that I'm not going to trouble Marble Sink with my presence anytime in the next few years, I felt the air heavy with the unworded challenge being issued to the club, do we have anyone capable of giving Marble Sink a decent stab?

When thinking of those willing to give the harder trips a bash, I think of Alex, Damian, Keith, Richard.

Alex is up for it, but not solo on this one, so there it is chaps, can we get a trip to Marble Sink going? (Or should we just apply for a permit so visitors looking at the online Meets List will think that we're tough)

Very interesting talking to Robert Bialek, I didn't know who he was at first and he was talking to me about the RRCPC trip to Felix Trombe back in 2000 and how they planned the through trip etc. His stories of getting through Quaking Pot with an FX5 on his side were shocking, an FX5 battery! old school, but then Mike Cooper was writing the book for over 10 years! You can see it though from it's quality.

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
