As the weather wasn't looking too good :( and most of the YSS were going to Valley Entrance and Toyland for a play, 4 of us took the opportunity to use a last minute permit for Lancaster ;) . First task of the day was a slight detour over to Chapel le Dale to check the lay-by for a lost wet sock from Friday nights trip, as no sock was present :( our next stop was Inglesport for Alex to purchase a new pair. Then it was a steady drive over to Bull Pot Farm, whilst we were all getting changed another slight problem arose, Alex had forgotten his over suit this time but problem solved thanks to the lost property box at BPF. Once we were all kitted up we headed over to the entrance, once rigged, it wasn't long before we were at the bottom of the pitch and removing our SRT kit. From here we made our way to Bridge Hall, then through Kath's Way towards Double Decker. We did a small detour en route to have a look at the Black Rose dig, also pulled out and emptied several sand bags for them :) , back at Double Decker we climbed down and made our way to the Main Drain and after having a look at the sump and waterfall we made our way up into Fall Pot. On the way out we did the Girder Route which some of us had not done before, back on the surface it was a quick change at the farm then Inglesport for Cheesy Chips ;) .

Probably the best we could do in the given weather. We should probably open a diving/swimming subsection at YSS, if the weather stays like this. I think that Nigel already brought this idea as he used goggles in Robinsons :)

Or just do what I am doing and just going caving when we have these break days, this week it's Sunday. Monday was not bad either. I think we need to change our ethos and just go caving whenever the weather lets us rather than when we want to, otherwise we won't go caving at all! Only issue is permits if you need them in advance of more than a couple of days. (Lets hope that changes after the AGM ,land owners willing!).

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
