''...the Wizard guards his treasure well.'' But the Wizard couldn't resist Nigel's knowledge this time.

Although the day starts with some rain drumming on windows, the weather changes to a splendid day in a few minutes so 5 cavers can later on get changed on Stockdale in a chilly but sunny weather. The walk to cave is fantastic thanks to fantastic views on all three peaks, Fountains Fell and mountains around Kettlewell. The tops are covered by fresh snow which is in a strong contrast with green grass below them.

After two minutes of searching we all reassemble at the entrance which starts with a constricted climb down handlined hole. This is followed by a short crawl towards first pitch which is tackled by a ladder today. Charlie belays us and descends as the last one. We first explore shorter passage on one side of the cave before our steps head towards the other part cave. We avoid the second pitch by going through a bypass which is rather muddy but from time to time decorated by various beauties. After a while we all meet in the main attraction: Blue Room which is really nice. On the way out Charlie decides to freeclimb the pitch in order to avoid passing the bypass...which turns out to be hard so Keith and Nige have to go around to drop a ladder down and help Charlie to get out of the slippery pitch. After a few exploring missions we soon climb the ladder and emerge in a wonderful day.

Party: Charlie, Ales, Susan, Keith & Nigel

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
