After the long drive down and several beers in the Hunters

a plan was hatched for Saturdays caving, but as usual after a hearty breakfast on Saturday morning things did change a little bit. With several trips on offer three of us ended up going with Helmore for a trip into Charterhouse, and as the 3 of us were virgins so to speak we were looking forward to it

.
After parking up and getting changed we set of on the short walk to the entrance, once Helmore had got this open we were off and soon through the rifty and thrutcy sections to reach more pleasantly sized passage. Once we had done a little detour to look at a very impressive chamber we carried on with our trip into the further reaches of the cave. Pretty soon we arrived at the Singing Stal and from there it was down hill to coin a phrase as this next section saw us dropping down through a very impressive boulder choke that they had dug through.
The next obstacle was the narrows and a ladder climb down to reach some very well decorated easy going passage, from there it wasn't long before we reached our turn round point which was Portal Pool so after the usual chocky bar we started on the way out.
Big thanks to Helmore for leading the trip and giving us a running commentary on the cave.
