It's 5AM when my alarm rings and the heat of my bed doesn't really help me to get up. Despite all the struggle I'm at Horton station at 7:30 and on my feet to walk to the YSS. Hitchhiking in the early morning traffic is impossible, but the weather is nice and together with the big moon above the Dales I get to the YSS to find a few hangover-ed people. Soon all the ropes are packed and we only have to wait for Gordon who doesn't turn up so we leave a notice for him and head towards Horton.
The hike to to the Three peaks trail helps us to warm up and now we stand in front of 5 paths and a dilemma to choose the right one. Bean seems to be confident to take the third from the left but it takes us another half an hour to find the right valley with the entrance. When we get to the first pitch we find the cave rigged. What's even more surprising, it's rigged with the YSS ropes! Is Gordon already on his way to the bottom?

We descend first shaft after which Jo calls it a day and heads slowly out accompanied by Bean. Me and Keith carry on and descend second fine pitch. It's dry today so no slings are needed. At the bottom we follow a small rift with an occasional crawling and squeezing in water. It wouldn't be a true Yorkshire pothole without a bit of misery. After the next pitch we are tempted to call this as a bottom but Keith follows a cheeky climb and an echo of his voice doesn't mean anything that we should carry on. After another two chambers we stand in front of a huge sump, which looks more like a little sump with a diving line and diving cylinders. No Gordon here

The ropes belong to Jason Mallinson apparently. When we get back to the last pitch, we hear a well known Somerset voice. Bean! Bean made it on his own to the bottom.
When we get back to the sunshine, Jo is just walking back to the cave, with a big smile and cakes from Penyghent cafe! What a lovely surprise!

Well, the fun is over now, it's a time for the AGM....
