Me: ''Hi Jordan, do you fancy a trip into Peak Cavern tomorrow? There is a train in the morning.''
Jordan: ''Hi Ales, thanks for the invite. At what time is the train?''
Me: ''6 AM, fella.''
Jordan: ''Fuck off!''

It's 7:30 when I meet Keith at the TSG hut with a classic Derbyshire breakfast. Since Colum is late, we have plenty of time to talk to the TSG contingent. Keith even manages to negotiate a rope retrieve by Rifles (young Combined Services) so he doesn't have to come back to JH on Wednesday night.

While we are getting kitted up at the farm, we are approached by a few little lambs which are so cute and brave that I can even cuddle one of them. Which was a mistake. Suddenly it's my best mate - a little black sheep. It likes me so much that it tries to eat residues of what was called two years ago an oversuit. Keith starts rigging and we barely see each other until the bottom of Leviathan. The pace is high but good. After a quick chat at the bottom of JH we head towards the streamway. Water is about chest deep today and rather refreshing which is imprinted into high voice pitches :-) After a while we meet another TSG group led by Lisa for a photography trip. The discussion would be enjoyable if we wouldn't be standing in the water...

Block Hall is new to me. I didn't expect much but it is quite an impressive pitch broken by a few rebelays and slopes. Apart from my little epic with my pantin, which forced me to hang head-down for a bit, we get safely to Kingdom where we take our kit off and Colum takes us to the Heaven where me nor Keith have been before. It's rather tricky to find if you don't know the way, obstructed by a cheeky constriction. It's a nice passage with a decorated terminal chamber. After this we carry on via the White River Series back to the rest of muddy crawl. Good excuse to have a nice bath together at the end :)

Party: Colum, Ales & Keith

Sounds like I missed a great trip, would like to have a look at this, barring the cheeky constriction

About

There are many club organised caving weekends, with a mixture of easy and difficult caving.  Over the past few years we have given lots of people the opportunity to experience caving with our "Try Caving" events.  These are quite popular and quite a few people have subsequently joined the club. We have YSS members caving most weekends so it is easy for new cavers to tag onto the easier caving trips and find people to help with more training.
